Demolition and reconstruction of the Gravagna Viaduct
Gravagna Viaduct
The Gravagna Viaduct is located in Tuscany, in the province of Massa Carrara in the municipality of Pontremoli. The infrastructure is located on the A15 Motorway between the Berceto and Pontremoli tollbooths, near the Valico tunnel separating Tuscany from Emilia-Romagna.
Today, the Gravagna Viaduct consists of two decks bound on common piers and has five spans: the three central ones span approximately 140 metres each, while the two end spans have a span of approximately 65 metres.
The structure begins at the 57+971 mark for the North road (Parma direction) and 57+985 for the South road (La Spezia direction) and runs for 594 metres and 575 metres respectively.
The planimetric layout is rectilinear for the entire development of the structure, aside from the final 150 metres on the La Spezia side, where the axis of the viaduct is curvilinear with a radius of 462 metres. The piers have a box-section profile and are built on shafts varying in height from 12 m to 54 m.
The decks are both characterised by an 11.20 m wide platform on which the 10.00 m wide roadway and two 0.60 m wide kerbs are located.
