Management System

Integrated Policy for Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, Road Traffic Safety, Environment and Infrastructure Safety.

OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO CONSTANTLY IMPROVE OUR ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PERFORMANCE, ROAD TRAFFIC SAFETY (RTS), AND INFRASTRUCTURE SAFETY.

“Opening up to global markets has increased competition and comparison against new global competitors who have already made great strides in the area of sustainability.

We are the world’s third largest toll motorway operator. This fact marks a significant step in our process of development, but also a great responsibility towards all our global users.

With this in mind, we want to make responsible conduct a driver of our competitiveness and of our continuous improvement and, therefore, of our success.

We want to create value. Value for the Company, for our shareholders, large and small, for our employees and their families, for our suppliers, and for the communities and organisations we engage with every day.

Today, it is becoming increasingly clear that an enterprise must have a closer and closer relationship with local environments and communities. This means that we need to change the way we do business and to promote a different culture within our organisation where respect for the environment, [for workers’ health and safety,] and social matters become an increasingly integral part of the way we operate.”

(taken from the Group’s Sustainability Report 2016)

“The economic and cultural evolution of modern society requires businesses that operate on the market to act not only as economic operators, but as a social institution. It is a new dimension, one that requires businesses to shoulder responsibility and drives us towards new horizons and increasingly ambitious targets. In response, we are investing in research to identify new technological solutions to improve transport and mobility, to develop increasingly green and sustainable infrastructure, and to play an active role in the modernisation of the countries in which we operate.”

(taken from the Group’s Sustainability Report 2022)

  • promotes the engagement and empowerment of all personnel and Workers’ Safety Representatives who work on behalf of SALT, and promotes the knowledge of risks, objectives and targets for quality, environment, occupational health and safety, road traffic safety and infrastructure safety, as well as the adoption of education, information and training plans in order to increase skills and awareness;

  • develops and maintains an emergency response plan for incidents and accidents on the infrastructure and/or incidents on the traffic network and other emergencies, and ensures that the emergency response plan is adequately coordinated with the emergency response plans of all organisations with which it must interact during operation of the infrastructure and traffic network and the provision of its products and services. (from ANSFISA Guidelines for the implementation, certification and performance evaluation of safety management systems (SGS-ISA) for road and motorway infrastructure inspection and maintenance activities)

The integrated management system for quality, environment, occupational health and safety, road traffic safety (RTS) and infrastructure safety is one of the tools SALT uses to achieve this.

The adoption of the integrated management system is a strategic decision by SALT, which is committed to keeping it up-to-date and effective to ensure business continuity. In management review meetings, the adequacy of SALT’s “company policy” is verified, the annual objectives and targets of the integrated management system are defined, formalised in line with the Scenario determined by the Context Factors, the Financial Plan and the commitments signed with the Grantor, and their progress is verified.
